Dogon Tribe Granary Door

The Dogon people of Mali live approximately 180 miles from Timbuktu where they cultivate various crops.  They store their crops in tall granaries with window-like openings.   Dogon Doors are made with separate panels of wood and carved with ancestral figures & scenes of life that symbolically protect their entrance.   The more complex the engraving of the door, the higher the family's status within the village.  Measurements 1.67m x 620m
