Colonial Figure

Colonial or "colon" figures originate in West Africa, Ivory Coast during the colonial period.   "Colon" statues is a term derived from the French statues colon - a French noun for a colonist. The wood carved statues commonly depict European colonial officials such as doctors, soldiers or technicians. They are generally painted in bright or glossy colours with vegetable-based paints.
