Namji dolls originate from the Namji tribe in the north of Cameroon - West Africa. Traditionally carved from rosewood and decorated with beads and shells, the dolls are often given to brides as lucky charms for fertility and child birth. It is said that a girl who loves playing with dolls in her childhood will have many children.
